For the Democrats, it was over before it even began - literally. Most major news organizations had declared Obama the winner before a single result had been reported. About 40 minutes later, Clinton was locked in for a diminutive second place. With those two spending most of their time arguing, Edwards called himself the "adult candidate," but only got an 18-percent third place in his home state. Gravel has been entirely dropped off the radar. After McCain won the GOP primary on Jan. 19, pundits spent a week of so after putting his name in sentences with the words "inevitable" and "comeback."
