IOWA CAUCUSES
On Jan. 3, Iowans turned out in record numbers to kick off the 2008 presidential race. The former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee quickly outpaced all of his competition to come away with 34 percent of votes on the Republican side. The three top-polling Democrats battled it out for several hours before Sen. Barack Obama made his getaway to a 38 percent victory. The Dodd camp was the first to say that this was likely the end. Unfortunately, Howard Dean was nowhere to be found to add a "Hyaaaaawh!" or two to the festivities. Mike Gravel was probably doing that somewhere, but he never gets to be on TV.

NEXT UP: The New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8.
